How to graft tomatoes with eggplant

There is always a reduction in the production and supply of tomatoes during the off season (Oct – March)
in Fiji due to the hot and wet conditions. An increase in rainfall and high temperatures provides a conducive
environment for diseases and creates waterlogged conditions which lead to a reduction in tomato yield.
The grafting of tomatoes onto an eggplant rootstock is aimed at reducing the effect of environmental conditions
on the yield of tomatoes. Eggplant is a crop that can withstand harsh climatic conditions like high rainfall
and it is used as the rootstock for grafting tomatoes.

Grafting the two crops will combine their desirable characteristics to provide for a consistency in supply of
tomatoes during the offseason.
